Shop Austin - Complete Clothing
Zaul Zamora owner and buyer for Complete Clothing. Located on 106 East 8th Street recently celebrated his store's one year anniversary. I had a chance to sit down with him today and find out what's been going on over the past year, and what he's looking forward to in the future.
So for those of us who have been living under a rock this past year tell all of our style shaker readers what type of boutique is Complete Clothing?
Primarily Complete clothing is a streetwear boutique; however we carry something for everyone. Tees, jackets, button ups, denim, and shoes.
Where did you come up with the name Complete Clothing?
The name "Complete Clothing" is a reference to the biblical association of completeness with the number seven - my favorite number.
What will shoppers find at Complete Clothing that won't find at any other boutique?
Many of the lines we carry can only be found in major cities such as Los Angeles New York, and Dallas.
So what lines do you carry at Complete Clothing?
10Deep, Hellz Bellz, Wesc, Maharishi MHI, Creative Recreation, Crooks & Castles, Famous Stars & Straps, and new this fall Kid Robot.
What's been the most exciting thing about having your own boutique?
Being able to bring something new and different to Austin fashion.
Do you have anything planned for you one year anniversary?

Shop Austin - Mercury Men's Fashion House
Pickins for stylish chaps were already slim before Factory People announced last month that it was closing its doors. While rallying the troops to fill that void, snappy dressers should add Mercury Men's Fashion House to their style arsenal. The boutique offers European and New York-based casual and going out wear, with a mostly exclusive selection of labels, including This Old Thing?, Romain Kapadia and Persona Non Grata. It's also one of the few sources in town for manly makeup (guys need coverage, too), offering the Menaji line of skincare and cosmetics.

With a firm focus on denim, chino, shirting, nylon outerwear and fine knits (such as cashmere, angora and Japanese cotton), the collection for Spring 2007 is punctuated with organza and silk, creating a king of 'tension' between sport and luxury, comfort and fashion sophistication and active."

Factory People
Austin based Factory People Makes the List
The big graphic (above) goes along with the BIG news for Austin. DNR, the men's version of WWD, recently released a list of the Top 50 Most Influence Men's Wear Stores ranking Factory People number forty-eight. DNR, the same publication which recently snatched the Statesman's talented beauty and style editor Jean Scheidnes, surveyed 120 sales executives to rank those shaping today's trends.
Enjoy the online snapshot (below) of the new names and subtle style affording Factory People international attention.
What: MANGLER JACKET, $319.00 Why: This Canadian born collection gives a new edge to military inspired sportswear. Camo, muted palettes and organic cut shirts, jackets, and pants are paired perfectly with their supersoft tees.
What:5 PKT RB15-INDIGO, rag and bone, $198.00Why:The name Rag and Bone, well suits the company, as the "rag and bone" man of 100 years ago was one of the first recycling pioneers. Fashion, can finally be substantiated as the gift that keeps on giving. The company began with the American wardrobe staple: blue jeans. Designers Bogle and Wainwright believe jeans are the symbol of a true rag and bone kinda guy. They "represent history, authenticity, and fundamentals." These pieces were designed to make stories and hold up to tell about them.
What: COLLAR SWEATER Surface to Air, $146.00 Why: This cross-Atlantic arts collective has among other things created a book of tees, a crop circle of Hello Kitty's head and the first storefront ipod listening station. Whether you grab one of their tongue-in-cheek tees or one of their devastating knuckledusters, it doesn't matter - you own a piece of S2A and quite frankly, everyone should.
What: TWO EYELET BOOT- FOSSIL Fred Segal, $165.00Why:The mix-master of cool, Mr. Perry, has seen it all - Wimbledon stars, Mods, Skinheads, DJ Culture, Brit-Pop, and Hip-Hop. Their laurel wreath logo adorned twin-tipped shirt (you might call it a polo) is the wardrobe choice for the youth of today. Clean cut yes, mainstream never.
What: BIG PAPI TEE No Ma, $44.00 Why: Designed by New York Times and The Fader freelance writer Chris Eisenberg, these tees celebrate the iconic sports hero and his fall from grace. You will look like a guy's guy wearing them and might even get your ass kicked b/c of it...others have you know?!
What: BURD KANJI HOODIE surface to air black label, $132.00 Why: Why do we love Surface To Air (Black Label is the New York arm of this NYC/Paris collective)? Well, its stuff like their current campaign for Adidas. Surface to Air was given 180 pairs of Samoa shoes, to do with as they wish as long as it was documented. Surface to Air obliged by shredding the trainers and rebuilding them as classic design pieces like Mies van der Rohe's Barcelona chair. The concept, explained designer Gordon Hull, was "you take a classic like Adidas, you take a classic like those pieces of industrial design and you make an original". The shredded shoes were repackaged in vacuum-sealed cushions, and are now being flown around the world, accompanied by the documentary.

Crate Honors
Crate Honors Anniversary With Exclusive FactoryPeople Jean - "The Thomas"
AUSTIN, Texas - To celebrate three years of styling Austin in ready-to-wear garments from around the fashion world, FactoryPeople has put together a one-of-a-kind designer birthday weekend to thank its customers and celebrate its success.
FactoryPeople, a 3,000 square foot lifestyle boutique located in the heart of Austin's South Congress strip, has been outfitting its customers in hard-to-find women's and men's cult designers, denim lines and trainers since owners Le and Thomas Popov first opened its doors on Oct. 17, 2003. The store, inspired by Andy Warhol's Factory, was built as a place to blend the worlds of art and commerce.
Since then, this landmark boutique has attracted national media attention from leading magazines Elle, Nylon and Jane, and has been honored as "one of the best five new stores" in America by Lucky Magazine. Celebrity shoppers, including Adam Horowitz a.k.a. Beastie Boys' Ad Rock, OC's Benjamin MacKenzie, Marley Shelton, Peaches, Elijah Wood and Karen O have been spotted browsing FactoryPeople designer selections and attending its killer parties.
"Our birthday weekend is really about thanking our amazing customers who have supported us from the beginning," said owners Le and Thomas Popov. "Entering our third year, FactoryPeople continues to be even more of a destination for Austinites and out-of-town visitors looking for the best new, cutting-edge designers around."
