Most agree "the Oscars were boring and void of those unforgettable style mishaps- Yep stylists have tightened their grip and influence" on what walks down the red carpet.

Leaving photographers and editors alike to replace that ulitmate red carpet question of " Jessica - who are you wearing" with "Jessica - who pulled it all together?"

This year the red carpet was void of lacey gloves, tooling, dead ducks, or malufunctions and full of new trends including:

Color: - nude (Uma Thruman, Jennifer Garnier, Resse Whitherspoon, Jessica Alba) Charlize Theron wore dark green accented with yellow jewels (perfection)
Hair: tessled and rough (Sandra Bullock, Uma Thruman, Jessica Alba) or a side swag (Noami Watts and Michelle Williams)

Academy Hosts the 2044 Oscar Fashion Preview

Beverly Hills, CA —The latest fashions from the biggest names in couture hit the runway today at the 77th Annual Academy Awards® Fashion Preview. Oscar fashion coordinator Patty Fox and 20 models previewed the glamour and sophistication fans can expect to see in the fashions worn by the nominees, presenters and guests attending this year’s Oscar ceremony.

"The Oscar red carpet has become the largest fashion show in the world with each couture gown an individual work of art," Fox said. "Inside the theater the evening is all about film. But on the red carpet it's the look that counts."

Fox, author of the fashion books "Star Style" and "Star Style at the Academy Awards," recently visited the top New York design showrooms and selected gowns from some of the biggest names in fashion to feature in the preview. This year, Fox also endeavored to identify and bring to light some of the hottest and most promising designers currently hitting the fashion scene.

Designers included in the preview were Bill Blass, Kevan Hall, Halston, Douglas Hannant, Morgane Le Fay, Monique Lhuillier, Luca Luca, Isaac Mizrahi and Valentino.

A team of expert hair stylists and make-up artists from Roy Teeluck Salon prepared the models for their high-fashion stroll down the runway constructed for this occasion.

Diamonds courtesy of Chopard, Martin Katz and Harry Winston provided the finishing touches to the glamour of the preview.

Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements of 2004 will be presented on Sunday, February 27, at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland®. The Oscars® will be televised live by the ABC Television Network at 5 p.m. PST/ 8 p.m. EST, beginning with a half-hour arrivals segment. This year's award circuit has proven to be a hot and heated glam gown competition. The most notables being Marcia Cross, Sandra Ho, and Charlize Theron.

Our Pick: Ms. Always Right, aka. Charlize Theron, is shown here wearing all that is current in evening wear. Definitely our favorite look spotted on the red carpet at the 12th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards.

The plunging neckline, the opened back, the long to the floor length and her understated makeup all work. Inching her ahead of the pack.

Evangeline Lilly #1

I fell in love with this dress, no the look, no the dress, no the look. It's a tragedy this picture misses the point. The look, color and energy all work ranking Ms. Lilly as our #1 pick for this year's Golden Globes.

Evangeline Lilly, the mysterious character of the new hit Lost is wearing the right style, fit and color. Leaving us to ask, how does such a tiny-petite girl of 5" 3" throw off such a long 6'0 plus uber supermodel style?

Our guess would be, she started by selecting the perfect color. The preferred green (color is definitely the dominate theme of this year's picks) has an instant ability to lower the formal factor of such a long dramatic dress. Add-in a few minor alterations - An the rest is red carpet history.

Our favorite part was when asked about her accessories she mentioned her "repair kit" / box clutch. Now that is keeping it real ....Kind of like Sharon Stone and her black Gap top real...

Marcia Cross #2

Even though, this Desperate Housewife is the poster child for beautiful skin. Warranting me to make a call to my own esthetician. It is her bold color statements of each outfit she wears, that sets her apart.

An true to form, Marcia Cross looked stunning in the long gown with the plunging neckline. The color, extra touches, and amazing Grecian look have all placed her as number two on our best-dressed A-list for the Golden Globe Awards.

Kudos to her stylist, who the star admitted added the much talked about gem stoned buckles to each sleeve. Her natural look never seems to disappoint and always holds true to her hyper-perfect Bree De Van De Camp TV persona.

Vitals Mag

I would love to share a little secret. The new Vitals Magazine is a small slice of heaven. This Fairchild Publication (the same publisher that brings you the WWD reports and self proclaimed authority on retail and style) presents a front to back magazine dedicated to fresh new approach to connecting online and in-store worlds.

Flipping through each page seems to somehow osmotic-ally complete my outfits. I find myself saying, Nordstrom’s full service, WHAT (?). An although, there was a bit too many magazines of trying into to a item finder. This up and coming magazine has gotten off to a solid start catering to those who don’t want to read about the misguide lifes and opinions of others.

Vitals is different, fresh, and only getting better. The approach is awesome - a bit off the main stream perfect for the Austin INDIE vibe.

Here is an unknown secret - I find myself drawn to Project Runway’s fashion face offs. Style with a dash of intense competition.

Whether it is the cat fighting among those new comers, oh we all remember Wendy from last season or the critical smack downs from the likes of one Ms. Nina Garcia. I will be eagerly watching Project Runway 2, set to start December 7th 10/9c on Bravo.
