The Perfect Pocket Pal
Authors Leanna Shear and Tracey Tommey of Cocktail Therapy "The Perfect Prescription for Life's Many Crises" creates a perfect pocket pal for any savvy socialite. Referenced to a modern day girl's alternative to Dr. Laura, this duo has a nack for curing all that ales a girl on the go.
In short their book compartmentalizes several of life's little crises within the areas of Family Feuds & Friendships Follies, Romantic Minefields, Work Woes, The Hole in Your Pocket and Little Annoyances.
One page spells out the crisis and the next page suggests the most appropriate concoction. Through out the book you will also finds hilarious Tip Jar inserts. For instance, How to Avoid the Perils of Drunk Dialing, "The geniuses at Virgin mobile now offer a booty-call-proof service. You call the virgin mobile hot line, enter the number(s) you want to make sure you don't call that night and then you're automatically blocked from making calls to those numbers until 6:00 a.m. ..."
Styleshaker's Beth Lambert sat down to interview the polished New Yorkers to glean even more wisdom from these two astute wordsmiths. Have fun and listen to a few minutes as the girls explain their start, thoughts and tips for dealing with a couple of life's little crises ...
Austin Crisis#1
You're sitting at the bar and an ex-boyfriend walks in. You notice him but don't care enough to make eye contact. He passes along and you continue with your conservation. At which time, his long time friend (which happens to be a girl) comes over to "shake-u-down" to "see how you are doing?"
What should you order for yourself and what should you send along to him ...???
Austin Crisis #2
You have become ear deaf from all the construction surrounding your posh Austin's downtown loft. In fact, you can't even remember the last time you have driven from your garage without a man waving a slow (down) sign in your face. A silly little reminder your high rent affords you a life filled with potholes and bulldozers. By the end of the work week you gather a few neighbors and head for a happy hour.
What should you order?

Fall Fabulous Fashion Show
The Domain hosted its Fall Fabulous Fashion Show on Saturday, and fabulous it was indeed. The event included fashions from several of its high-end stores, such as Betsey Johnson, Intermix, Louis Vuitton, Anne Fontaine, Barney's New York CO-OP, CALYPSO Christiane Celle, jewelry from David Yurman, Martin + Osa, St. Thomas Boutique and Stuart Weitzman. The models donned bright red lipstick and rich black liquid eyeliner for a glamour-vixen look, courtesy of MAC cosmetics. Ron King of Bo Salon paired the look with vintage 40's hair styles-proving glam retro is still considered hot for fall. It was refreshing to see how Ron modernized these 40's hairstyles for the show-soft waves were given va-va-voom volume and other styles were given some rocker edge. The models wore many of the fall trends-bright jewel toned colors, sweater coats, bold hosiery, cinch-waist belts, and many streamlined looks. It's apparent that designers are over the baby-doll and trapeze silhouettes and actually want to embrace a woman's curves-finally! The audience proved to be just as fashionable as the models-as pictured here. Styleshaker Katie LeBreton was bold enough to sport one of our It picks-long opera length gloves. I loved how she added edge to a more refined accessory by simply pairing it with a chic leather skirt and kept the rest of her outfit monochromatic to let her bold, brightly colored gloves do all the talking for this youthful look.
Pictures from backstage coming soon.

Shaker Cam - Low Riding Boots
Real time and on the streets of Austin. Imagine to my surprise capturing a quick pic of one of my It hits for the fall.
The low heeled riding boots incorporated into this look is a true sign that spot-on individual style "lives strong" in Austin. For those Austinites familiar with the diversity of Austin's nightlife. Pulling together a great look that allows you to HOOF it for a full evening of music, dining and the standard mix and mingle can be challenging.
My girlfriend and I caught up with this Styleshaker (ordering an expresso) following a great dinner at the Roaring Fork. The boot made a strong workable statement. She mentioned, "I just got these from Allen Boots today, I think they are Sendra Boots." Her lightweight throw, silk tie belt, and messenger bag all considered solid style staples for the true blue Austinite.
Doing a little homework, I'm excited to share this online "Austin" find from one of SOCO's most popular shopping spots.
our pick: Ladies' Sendra Torito Camello, $349.99 Allenboots.com

Shaker Cam - Ralph Lauren
Here's a group of stylish stunners out-n-about at my new favorite place to hang - The Domain. It's not only a powerhouse of shops but a great place to catch a bite. The new addition of Oakville Grocery and McCormick and Schmidt round out an impressive list of restaurants. The happy hour prices and after 7:00 store invites any weekday evening makes The Domain a great place to enjoy a late night stroll.
Last Thursday evening - I found myself in the middle of a great group of style shakers. Nina Seely the General Manager of Ralph Lauren welcomed the HRC. Take a look at a few of the attendees. The Ralph Lauren set of pumps, the Robert Grahman button down, the shades, the Louis Vuitton Messenger Bag had me hooked. Right down the Burberry belt.

Out-N-About - The Beauty of Life Brunch
I have to say there are many events to attend in Austin, however most take place in the evening. This past week I was lucky enough to attend the Beauty of Life Brunch, sponsored by Neiman Marcus and Brilliant Magazine, benefiting Hospice of Austin. It was an amazing event for a noteworthy cause requiring each attendee to add a bit of forethought into their look.
Dressing correctly for each and every event on an Austin shaker's social calendar can be a bit stressful, even for those who strive to be spot-on. Brunch is no exception. The mid morning affair can be a tricky occasion to dress for, and showing up in the wrong attire can send the wrong message.
So what are the rules? What should or shouldn't a gal wear to a dress up brunch? Here are a few tips. It's crucial not to over dress for brunch so opt against black and all dark colors. Reserve those for the evenings. Equally important is to avoid the opposite end of the spectrum; neutrals will have you blending in with the table cloths. Once the color has been selected, hone the style and fit. Finally carefully choose those essential add-ons.
Shoes and accessories say so much about an outfit. Make sure to have fun with the basics: kitten heels, wedges, over sized clutch or signature piece of jewels can be less intimidating conveying a air of self confidence.
This event most shinned in Pinks, purples, yellows, greens, and blues (not navy) are bold enough to make a statement with out looking like you're dressed for a ball.
The most important tip I can offer is to bring a cheerful smile. Mornings can be rough and trying to find the perfect look before your latte can stress even the savviest of Austin's style shakers. So after you get your self together, regardless of what look you decide on remember your smile is your best accessory, because nothing ruins an outfit like a frown!
My pick for the event: A Pink washed silk dress with sleeves and pockets from Madewell 1937 with bronze peep toe shoes by Modern Vintage from By George. Jewelry by Anthony Nak of course.
Some other Stunning Style Shakers:
Karen Landa - Perfectly perfect in a purple long sleeve dress by Zac Posen find it at Nieman Marcus accompanied the very put together Lance Avery Morgan in Emanuel Ungaro at Estilo.
Chloe Dao - In a stunning yellow dress with rope detail by none other than Ms. Chloe Dao herself. Find it at www.lot8online.com

Shaker Cam - The Belmont
Here's a little style tongue twister. Shannon from the Statesman is seen wearing something from Sunny's.
Click on the image to view the back of this amazing retro Levis Strauss + Co. pair of high waisted trousers. The style is spot-on and the fit "rawks". Her scalloped green top is understated absorbing the greatness of the It trend most will not have enough guts to wear.

Shaker Cam - Propaganda World Tour
Here's a Rare Austin Beauty standing a mere six foot tall.
The great bold print and neckline bow works. The dress was bought in Spain from Zara.
Take a look at the Zara collection. It's something to place on your short list. Shop on Shakers.
Event breakdown: Here's Styleshaker.com's very first editorial disclaimer "any sentiment conveyed through associated images may not necessarily be those shared by this site or its editorial contributors. "
Translation the Anti-war slash Anti-GB is for you to choose - not us. Regardless, the Propaganda World Tour showed the artwork of six various artists each piece with its own strong point of view. The unobtrusive art was placed along the wall of J Blacks Thursday evening. The collection as a whole and event sponsored by Rare Magazine was hit ... Boosting a packed house and several aficionados using their camera phones to capture the raw unadulterated messages.
