Thursday May 3rd @ 7pm

Speaker MJ Neal, AIA, will inaugurate the Austin Architects Lecture series, presenting his work in relation to concepts of "Truth & Community". In private practice since 1993, MJ has received state and national honors and awards for such local work as the Anthony Nak showroom, the Ramp House in South Austin and the Carmichael Residence. MJ has taught and lectured at UT Arlington and Austin, Texas Tech, the University of Nebraska and in Mexico City. He has also achieved international recognition in publications from Elle to Tokyo's GA Magazine. Lectures will occur the first Thursday of every month. Attendees are invited to explore and discuss some of Austin's many new architectural gems while enjoying complimentary wine and cheese. Reservations recommended.

Members of the Austin based GAT5 artist collective will be participating in the H.O.P.E. benefit and art exhibition in Los Angeles on May 18th.

The Ferraro brothers were selected to participate by the organizer Andi Scull of Burn the Box.


The Collective will also be hosting a group show in New York City on May 31st. GAT5 is an interdisciplinary artist collective committed to promoting the arts through the collision of visual art, design, music and theater. GAT5 artist collective was formed in 2003 by brothers Charles and James Ferraro.

The Brothers will be exhibiting a collaborative multimedia piece in the silent auction benefiting the H.O.P.E. campaign. The H.O.P.E. campaign empowers individuals to take action on Darfur through music, art and culture. Proceeds support Global Grassroots' work in Africa and advocacy for the crisis. The group exhibition will feature a collection of artists such as Shepard Fairey, James Ganzer and the photography of Brian Steidle. The benefit will take place on Darfur Observance Day at the Bradley Tower in LA City Hall from 7 to 10pm.

The GAT5 artist collective will be hosting Collider NYC, a music and art showcase in New York City at Rockwood Music Hall. The exhibition will feature painting, illustration and sculpture from members Charles Ferraro, Val Brown and James Ferraro. The event will feature three musical performances headlined by Joseph King. King, a former Austin resident, is an emerging star on the New York City music scene. He is currently collaborating with members of the Brazilian Girls on his debut solo album.

The Brothers Ferraro part of the H.O.P.E. art exhibition/benefit May 18, 7 to 10pm in the Bradley Tower LA City Hall.
