Gone are the days of dressing to just blend in or copy the latest "IT" celebrity. Good Bye, Parish Hilton. (What a designer mess). It is the girl who has a sense of individual style who stands out and looks like none other. That is the girl who defies all the mega trends (mT) to set her own.

Serving The Girl On-the-Go

Vitals Mag
I would love to share a little secret. The new Vitals Magazine is a small slice of heaven. This Fairchild Publication (the same publisher that brings you the WWD reports and self proclaimed authority on retail and style) presents a front to back magazine dedicated to fresh new approach to connecting online and in-store worlds.
Flipping through each page seems to somehow osmotic-ally complete my outfits. I find myself saying, Nordstrom’s full service, WHAT (?). An although, there was a bit too many magazines of trying into to a item finder. This up and coming magazine has gotten off to a solid start catering to those who don’t want to read about the misguide lifes and opinions of others.
Vitals is different, fresh, and only getting better. The approach is awesome - a bit off the main stream perfect for the Austin INDIE vibe.
Pick it up an issue at the Book People. An Shop. Wear. and Shake yourself into a NEW pair of Manolos.

Trend Factor (mT)
Alright, my mind works in terms of equations. You know constants and the correlation of dependent and independent variables (stuff). My most recent mathematical blunder is a new equation calculating the trend factor of your next a purchase.
Try this one out.
Trend factor equals the number of celebrities wearing the label minus the average age of the girl wearing it multiplied by how close it fits your individual style.
When applying this equation consider. The trend factor unit of measurement is a (mT) on the mega trend scale. Note a +1 is low and a +10 is high. An for true accuracy in your measurement you should consider Jennifer Aniston to be a +1 and Parish Hilton to be +8. An Rachel Blisson is somewhere in the middle.

Salt
Style sprinkled with SALT
By Kelly Carter, Special for USA TODAY
NEW YORK — SALT is shaking up the closets of women and men from Manhattan to Hollywood.
Jessica Simpson, Katie Holmes, Claire Danes, Alicia Keys, Uma Thurman, Kelly Ripa and some of the cast of Desperate Housewives and The O.C. are among those to add some SALT to their wardrobes.
Designed by New Yorkers for New Yorkers (thus added pockets for MetroCards, which are used for subways and buses), the SALT denim line was launched last year, and the styles are named after streets in Manhattan. Danes recently requested St. Mark's, a low-rise straight-leg that has turned into the hottest style for the fall. She also wore Mulberry Street, a medium-rise boot cut, to NBC's Hurricane Katrina benefit in September. Keys sported an Orchard Street jacket and Mulberry Street pants to a Food Bank for New York City event in October. This summer, Simpson wore a pair of Avenue A jeans to her birthday party, and Holmes wore SALT jeans to a magazine interview.
What's the appeal? SALT's four designers, all 30 and former employees at Levi's, AG and Paper Denim, go for a less-is-more approach and pride themselves on a clean, sophisticated design and sexy fit.
"We don't follow trends," says designer Victoria Allen. "We want our customers to define their style. Our jeans are a tool for their self-expression."
Costume designers have taken to SALT. Melinda Clarke and Benjamin McKenzie wear them on The O.C. Teri Hatcher wore her Avenue As on Housewives.
SALT owner Salomon Smeke says, "Women rebelled against the low-rise craze and wanted to wear jeans that showed off their curves, without showing off too much."
Men, too, have a taste for SALT. McKenzie is partial to Essex Street, a low-rise, straight leg while Housewives' Jesse Metcalfe favors Bedford Street, a low-rise boot cut.
The collection, which includes pants, jackets, vests and skirts that range from $120 to $175, is sold at Barneys, Saks Fifth Avenue, Bloomingdale's and other stores. *An for help and an Austin selection shop Hem. For more information on SALT, visit www.swjeans.com.

Paige Denim
West Coast Denim Designer In the News
(LOS ANGELES, Sept.2004)-Paige Adams Geller has established a name for herself as the most-requested fit model for the hottest denim brands. After a decade of behind-the-seams experience, she's establishing her name again-as a brand. Paige Premium Denim debuts in Spring 2005 and represents the ideology, insight and innovation of the designer.
She gained experience and knowledge in the industry, and her denim clients began valuing her for more than physical assets. While other models stood mute as mannequins during fit sessions, Paige contributed feedback-about fit and fabric and hardware-that improved the design of jeans and made her the most-requested fit model for Seven, Citizens of Humanity, Guess and Blue Cult.
Voted the most flattering jean by IN STYLE magazine July 2005.

ABCs of Gift Giving
Creating your holiday shopping list should be as simple saying your ABC’s.
Your A- List should take the majority of your time and energy and include the names of your loved ones. It is a good idea to ask for suggestions and personalize these gifts as much as possible.
Your B-List should take minimum amount of time and may include those you will be meeting for a gift exchange etc. These are the names of those who are more of social acquaintances. You can save time selecting the prefect gift based the common demonstrator between you and that person. For example, a yoga mat for you Saturday morning yoga gal pal.
Your C-List should take no time at all and should include those you will not be able to make time to see before the holidays. Simply insert a gift card into a thoughtful Christmas card and mail it off.
