Giltz-N-Glam - 2007 Runway to Heaven
Styleshaker's Beth Lambert and Jenny Miller were in attendance, along with other socialites, famed designers and media types, for the Runway to Heaven Fashion Show charity event. It was held at the UT Alumni center. The goal was to raise money for the Heart House a non-profit after-school program for low income and at risk children
Excited to see the inner workings - I ran to the back to get the inside on the "style stir" just before the show was set to start. Not a dress left on the hanger. The show and debut of a few new names was set to start ...
Here's the list of designers and my favorite piece from each.
1. vluxe - Wash lamb nubuck jacket with constant stitching and fabric, color, tan.
2. Linda ASAF - Metalllic Brocade coatdress with fabric flower brooch.
3. Ramonster - Girl on the Flying Trapeze Dress
4. ChamsHill - Bolero
5. Nilmin - Turquoise blue empire waist silk chiffon
6. F 3-Designs, designer Forest Bell (a.k.a fabric junkie) - Blue Silk Jersey Dress. (my favorite piece of the show)
The Austin Chronicle's Stephen Moser emceed along with the amazing duo from Anthony Nak.
Both Anthony Camargo and Nak Armstrong broke away from their fall media and production schedules to fly back to Austin to show their support for the charitable cause and new-found designers.
Nak Armstrong mentioned "we should all support local designers... we all have to start somewhere ... why not support that independent spirit."
The event was a success. The designers all had their own point of view creating a great show. Even those in attendance pushed my style buttons. Here's Jill Ragsdale PR Coordinator for Anthony Nak. A total styleshaker in a dress she snatched from Estilo.
No worries if you were unable to attend. I will make sure to pass along information concerning the online auction ... soon enough.
