It pick: Wide leg trouser pants

In lieu of skinny jeans, designers have continued their summer fling with volume, replacing trapeze tops and bubble hems with a more forgiving silhouette of the wide leg trouser. Far from the horribly unflattering wide leg jean from the nineties, these styles are more streamlined, just barely skimming over the thighs and hugging the curves of the hips. Designers have even combined this trend with high waists, re-introducing us to this popular 1970s silhouette. For the daring fashionista bold enough to wear this popular style, caution is key, as the wrong shirt or accessory can literally swallow you whole. However, with the right silhouette, you'll look fabulous rocking out your new pants, and not the other away around. In terms of the most attractive fit, try to avoid going too baggy-you want the leg to just skim your thighs and still see your waist. Be sure to hem your pants to the right length, a too-long or short pant will be glaringly obvious with this trend. If you choose to buy the high waisted trousers, then be careful of fit, as this can be more difficult to wear. Avoid going too high and cutting your torso in half (nothing directly below the chest), and go for darker washes, which are universally more flattering. The look is also all about proportions-pair with a more streamlined top in order to show your figure, unless you are going for a bag lady chic look. A flowier top may work if cinched at the waist with a bold belt as well. And pair with a fabulous pair of heels, especially if you are petite, it will elongate your frame and make the pants look better overall. So go retro and do the disco in your wide leg trousers.
